Subject: Inquiry about registration of the appeal on points of law and informational notice - P2 1435/24, Gž2 211/26

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to you as the plaintiff in the civil proceedings conducted before the Basic Court in Novi Sad under case number P2 1435/24, in relation to which the Court of Appeal in Novi Sad issued second-instance decision Gž2 211/26 of 22 April 2026.
An appeal on points of law dated 29 May 2026 was lodged against the second-instance decision, drafted and signed by an advocate acting as my representative.
I am writing personally, in my capacity as a party, concerning two separate matters: an administrative inquiry about the status of the case and an informational notice about the availability of systematically organised documentation.
1. Inquiry about receipt, registration and the status of the case
I kindly ask you to inform me, if the relevant information is available:
- Has the appeal on points of law, together with the case files, been delivered to the Supreme Court?
- If so, on what date was the case received and under what case number was it registered?
- Has the case been registered and assigned for handling, and what administrative or procedural stage has it currently reached?
- If the files have not yet been received, is any information available about their progress or the competent court I may contact to check?
These questions do not seek information about the substance of judicial deliberations, but solely information about receipt, registration and the procedural status of the case.
2. Informational notice about the availability of documentation
I would like to draw your attention to the publicly accessible documentary archive Origin Dossier, which I personally prepared and published on 15 October 2026:
The archive systematically organises historical records, court documentation, the chronology and legal arguments concerning my two adoption proceedings, in 1979 and 1984, changes to my original identity, my origins and family rights, as well as the course of the court proceedings in question up to the lodging of the appeal on points of law.
It includes, among other things, original documents, court hearing records, the parties’ submissions, the first- and second-instance decisions, and the appeal on points of law itself.
Given the volume and historical complexity of the documentation, I consider it useful to inform the Court of the existence of this additional, clearly organised source.

I particularly emphasise that I am not claiming that any omission occurred when the official files were delivered to the Supreme Court.
However, given the number of documents, the period they cover and their interconnections, the possibility of an inadvertent administrative error, such as the omission of an individual record or attachment when preparing and transmitting a voluminous case file, cannot be ruled out in advance.
I am not suggesting that such an omission actually occurred, nor am I attributing to anyone an intention to withhold documentation. It is precisely as a precaution that I draw attention to the archive, where individual documents can be located by their content, date, provenance and place in the chronology of events.
The archive is not intended to replace the official court file, nor does this communication constitute a supplement to the appeal on points of law or the introduction of new grounds for that appeal.
Its purpose in this context is, should the need arise, to facilitate the identification of individual documents and verification of their existence, while respecting the procedural rules governing their use.
3. Languages of the archive and original documents
The documentary archive is available in three languages: English, Croatian and Hungarian.
This choice of languages is not accidental.
Croatian is the language of my biological mother, Cvita Miletić, while Hungarian is the language of my biological father, Pál Lakatoš.
I spoke Hungarian in my earliest childhood, but lost my knowledge of it after the age of five. This fact is directly connected to my life history and the questions of original identity at the heart of my years-long efforts to establish and legally re-examine the circumstances of the adoptions.
Since Serbian and Croatian are mutually intelligible, I consider that the Croatian version of the archive provides direct and unobstructed access to its content, without the need to use the English or Hungarian translation.
The Croatian version is available at:
It is particularly important that the documentary archive contains not only translated analyses and descriptions, but also original PDF documents issued by the authorities of the former Socialist Autonomous Province of Vojvodina within the Socialist Republic of Serbia, as well as documents from the contemporary authorities of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina within the Republic of Serbia.
These official records are available in their original form, regardless of the language in which the public documentary analysis has been prepared.
4. Respect for the independence of judicial decision-making
I wish to state expressly that, through this communication, I am not seeking to prejudge the Supreme Court’s decision, requesting any particular outcome of the proceedings or attempting to influence judicial decision-making.
The grounds for the appeal on points of law have already been set out in the legal remedy submitted by my representative.

This communication is solely informational and administrative in nature, seeking to draw attention to the existence of a clearly organised documentary archive that may assist in navigating complex historical and procedural material.
I consider it to be in the interests of proper handling that the official court file be complete and that all documents forming part of it be available to the Court in accordance with the law.
Thank you for your time. Please provide any available information about receipt and registration of the case concerning the appeal on points of law, including its case number if one has already been assigned.
If another organisational unit of the Court is competent to handle this inquiry, please forward my communication to the competent registry or let me know whom I should contact.
Yours faithfully,
Milan Lakatoš Petrović

Update of 20 October 2026 - the Court Registry has replied
The statement that the author had received no acknowledgment describes the position when this inquiry was published on 18 October 2026 and is retained as a historical record. On 20 October, Milanka Ranković, Deputy Head of the Court Registry, expressly replied to that request, confirming registration of the appeal on points of law as Rev 6599/26 and forwarding of the author’s submission to the reporting judge for information.
The separately preserved SAPS record displays receipt and assignment to Judge Dragana Marinković on 13 July and a document entry dated 19 October. The response does not establish that the judge read the submission, visited Origin Dossier, formally incorporated the archive into the file or decided the appeal.
